Brief Description: Evergreen shrub or small tree with height up to 10 metres. Smooth bark, ashy-coloured. The leaves are dark green, glossy, 5-12 cm long, ovate to oblong-ellipsoid, with sinuate and spiny margins. Monogenic flowers, tetramerous, fragrant, in compact inflorescences. The males ones with large anthers and atrophied ovary and the female ones with developed ovary and atrophied stamens. The fruit is drupe, spherical, vividly red. It is a hardy plant in cold weather and strong winds. Its flowering lasts from May until June.
