Brief Description: Evergreen shrub. Upright, ramified sprouts, 20-50 cm high. The leaves are small, scale-like, on oblate leaf-shaped branches (heart-shaped leaves). The heart-shaped leaves are hard, ovate or lanceolate, sharp-pointed, with spiny apex. Solitary flowers on the underneath surface of the heart-shaped leaves. The fruit is berry, spherical, red. It bears flowers from February until May.
